About EDI

Founded in New Delhi in 1995 by parents and professionals, Educational & Development Initiatives (EDI) is a registered society committed to ongoing learning.

EDI obtained registration under Section 12(A) and 80(G) of the Income Tax Act and has been authorized to receive foreign contributions since 2000.

EDI inspires young men and women to take personal responsibility in helping those in need, fostering a spirit of service, and promoting a well-rounded education for all, regardless of caste or creed.

Educational & Development Initiatives (EDI) is a charitable Society registered in New Delhi with the aim of fostering ideals of service, advancement of learning, and relief for the poor. We have projects in Delhi, Haryana, and Mumbai, and have reached Jharkhand, Gujarat, and West Bengal through service camps.

The eleven founding members of EDI are parents and professionals. EDI was registered with the New Delhi Register of Societies Registration No. S/28/95 dated 3 July 1995.

On 11 January 1996, EDI was registered under section 12A(a) of the Income Tax Act of 1961. EDI satisfies the conditions under section 80(G) of the Income Tax Act (1961) per the Department of Income Tax (Exemptions) and has received general permission to receive foreign contributions under the Ministry of Home Affairs with registration No. 231660039. The Permanent Account Number (PAN) of EDI is AAATE2524K.

Elizabeth Varghese, President

M.Com and PG Diploma in Special Education, a compassionate educator dedicated to supporting students with varying needs.

Moushumi Chatterjee, Vice President

Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Tata Memorial, researcher and educator focused on creating programs for individuals with diverse needs.

Ann Varavukala, Secretary /Treasurer

Studied Mathematics, Computers (IIT Delhi), Behavior Analysis, and Special Education. Currently the Principal of Kamalini Vocational Training Centre.

Merlin Puthur, Governor

M.Sc. in Mathematics and former data analytics consultant at Deloitte. Now pursuing a B.Ed. to focus on enhancing educational strategies

Pushpa Subramanian, Governor

Extensive UNICEF experience in fund management for diverse projects, which she combines with a commitment to social service.

Veena Florie Crasto, Governor

Chartered Accountant, partner in an auditing firm, committed to community engagement, teaching finance and English to underprivileged parents.
